[Dshield] SANS going to proctored exams?

Nobody says you have to drive 100 miles to take your test. According to
the email that I got yesterday
there are quite a few other options if there isn't a Kryterion center
nearby. It looks like you'll be able to
use HR/training staff at your company or a local college testing center,
among other options. They also posted
it to the GIAC website (http://www.giac.org/proctor/)

I personally live 400 miles from the nearest Kryterion center. While I
would obviously prefer to be able
to take my tests at home, in my PJs at 2am like I normally do, I can
understand why SANS is doing it this way.
As far as I know there are no other InfoSec exams that you can take at
home; SANS is really just putting themselves
in compliance with recognized best practices. I can't blame them for
that, much as it may inconvenience me personally.
