[Dshield] SANS going to proctored exams?

GIAC didn't really have much choice. There was no way to get ANSI
certification without going to proctored exams. Besides, from sitting on
the Ethics Council, it's almost impossible to prevent cheating on the
current exams. I really doubt it happens much, but there's no way to
prevent people from asking others for help with answers, or to prevent
someone taking the exam for another. Heck, people have advertised, looking
for others to take an exam for them.

Before I learned that the exams were still open book and that notes
and papers would be allowed, I was concerned. You can still bring
notes (including indexes) on paper to the testing center and use them
during the exam. It's not as convenient or as fast as using
electronic, but still very helpful.
