I just got the good news that GIAC received a letter today from ANSI
confirming that the GSEC (Security Essentials, SEC401) and the GSLC
(Security Leadership MGM 512) certifications are now officially ANSI
certified! Congratulations to the GIAC team. It took about 1 1/2 years
to get here. Other certifications should follow soon.

Just to summarize some of the sentiments:

- - The fact that you don't cheat doesn't mean others don't. GIAC does
allow for a number of proctor options and they will increase. You don't
have to go to the testing center. Heck.... I think you can take the cert
at my house ;-) (I am a GIAC Board member)

- - If you see a job ad from your company, ask your HR department to look
for a GIAC certification. That's the easiest way to teach them. Only few
HR people or "head hunter" actually care about the detailed requirements
for the job, and you have to teach them what "keywords" to search for on
Monster.com.
