The "problem" with only checking the registry is that Win98 will still
load things out a win.ini, system.ini winrun.bat (SP?), autoexec.bat and
even config.sys. So if the offending app is being loaded from another
location, just checking the registry will miss it.

This is why I suggested msconfig. It pulls its info from all of these
