Very true.   There is no real reason for a stand alone, in a home, dial up 
PC to even have those ports.  Not much legitimate home use software needs 
UDP and RPC is really dumb for a home user to enable.

This is way old news.. really.. block 135, 137, 139, 445 ports.. at the
least.  One of micro$oft's Totally Stupid things to leave open.  Been
blocking them since the 70's
