After reading Paul Neubauer's reply on this topic, I glanced at the Ball
State web site to see who the DMCA agent might be. There, he is a copyright
and electronic library resource specialist. At many schools, an attorney
serves as the agent. (One of our attorneys originally served Princeton in
that capacity, but I inherited the role "on an interim basis" when she left
the University.)

At other schools, an IT person--or sometimes the CIO--serves in that role.

I strongly suspect the IT cadre may have stronger feelings about the nature
of a digital signature than may the DMCA agents whose primary functions fall
in other areas of the University.
